Cincinnati Serial Killer Anthony Kirkland

Anthony Kirkland A registered sex offender was arrested in March of 2009. He was just released from a Cincinnati halfway house 8 days before. Kirkland was found sitting underneath a tree at Winton Road Reservoir drinking beer.He had with two knives with the blades sticking up out of his pants pocket, a pink ipod that had Esme Kenney name on it, a purple watch, and a lighter. The two Cincinnati police officers from district 5 that found Kirkland were in the reservoir investigating disappearance of missing teenager. The missing teenager was Esme Kenney. Esmeleft her house earlier that day for jog. After two hours went by her mother Lisa Kenney called and reported her missing. When a police officers seen that Kirkland had Esme property they called for back up. They arrested Anthony Kirkland. When they first arrested him he gave them a fake name. One of the officers told him they would take him Downtown Cincinnati to get finger printed he told them who he was. When they ran his name through the computer it came back he already had been charged with the murder of a girlfriend in 1987. Kirkland threw lighter fluid on her and set her on fire. He spent a measly eight years in prison for that murder. The officers called for more officers to join in on the search for Esme. Twenty minutes later they found the body of Esme Kenney. They found Esme's body in a heavily wooded area of the reservoir. There was a canopy of branches like a tent off of the path and that's where her body was. Esme body was propped up on a tree sitting on her bottom with her arms crossed in front of her; her legs were spread apart and head was bent down with her hair covering her face. Esme's body was severely burned up to her breast line. Three of her fingers were brunt off. Kirkland admitted to killing Esme. He said she was jogging down Winton road and she bumped into him breaking his bottle of beer. He said that he got angry and she reminded him of his son's mom, so he started punching and kicking her. He said that she said she would do anything that he wanted if he wouldn't hurt her. He drug her in the woods and tried to rape her. He said he was afraid that she was going to tell, so he strangled her with a rag. Kirkland also admitted to killing 3 other women who were found severely burned. 14 year old Casonya Crawford's body was found in a wooded area along I-71 in Avondale. 45 year old Mary Jo Newton's body was found a half mile from Crawford's remains were found. 27 year old Kimya Rolison's remains were found in wooded area on Plute St. in Price Hill. Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters said Kirkland is a monster and should get the death penalty. Jury found Kirkland guilty on all counts now they decide if he lives or dies.

Kirkland received the death sentence. The only thing that could of been better was if he would of received it the same day. January 2012, Ohio's death row relocated to the Chillicothe Correctional Institution that where he waits for his death.
